Irma Avila

Facilitator

Irma has worked in mental and behavioral health for the past 13 years. I first started as an Administration Assistant/Receptionist and have progressed in my career since then. My professional background includes working as a Clerk II at Bilingual Family Counseling, and I also served as an audit clerk for the Ontario School District for the interns working at the school site. I started working at New Day Counseling Centers, where I was encouraged by Dr.Yaser Selim to pursue my interest as a facilitator for the San Bernardino County Probation Department Batterers’ Intervention Program (BIP). Over the years, my interest grew more in the clients that we serve, “Developing strong relationships is the foundation of everything I do, both professionally and personally.” Earning certification through the San Bernardino County Probation Department as a group facilitator has fulfilled my passion in serving my community. My certification required completing the BIP program of 104-hour internship training under the supervision of Dr. Yaser Selim and completing a 40-hour perpetrator’s training as a requirement for DOJ and probation department. What I love about the field of behavioral health is the transformation I see in my clients and how it affects their lives and society at large. I believe in change, and to be part of that change is a blessing. I am currently the BIP Group Facilitator at CCS/FSASB at the San Bernardino Office, as well as facilitating at New Day Counseling Centers Fontana and Lighthouse Counseling Services Adelanto.
